This fourth of July wedding in Versailles, Kentucky was one for the record books. Everything was perfect, from the location on the flower farm where they live close to the Kentucky River in their sweet little cottage looking over the pond, to her gorgeous gown, down to all the beautiful festive decor.
Kayleigh got ready in the cottage with her bridesmaids while family members worked outside putting on the finishing touches. The ceremony was performed on the dock built for the wedding. It was a perfect scene for family and friends to look upon. As the sun set, they dined on food prepared by Charles. He even baked all the delicious pies!
It rained the entire week before the big day, but Kayleigh and Charles trusted a Kentucky ritual and buried a bottle of bourbon upside down in the ground the night before the wedding to keep the rain away. We had the most perfect weather to celebrate the day, so there must be something to that. Since Charles works as a sous chef at Woodford Distillery, they used the best bourbon and it worked. After the wedding, they dug up the bottle and drank it to celebrate.
When it was completely dark, Kayleigh's family set off a beautiful display of fireworks. They even encouraged family and friends to set up tents in the backyard.
They are a wonderful couple and I'm so thankful I got to share in their festive wedding day! Enjoy these proud Kentuckians take on an American holiday, one that they will celebrate for the rest of their lives as a married couple!
