Trying something new on the blog today. Sarah and Chad had a beautiful wedding but instead of hearing me talk about it I thought you could hear straight from the bride about her big day. Enjoy her words and my photography:
Sarah: Coming from a line of cry-at-the-drop-of-a-hat family members, I was hesitant to have a showy, blubbering wedding, which is why we went with a small (about 20 people) ceremony and a big boozy reception following. It was the perfect choice for us. The best parts of the day were drinking champagne with my ladies, having the honor of walking arm-in-arm with my dad down the aisle and promising forever to the dreamiest man -- oh, and stealing the mic to sing Carly Simon's "You're So Vain"!
As soon as we toured the venue, I knew we had to get married there. The original hardwood floors, crisp white walls and exposed brick made my heart aflutter! Family and friends styled the flowers (lilies, dahlias and spider mums) for me – I wanted all white in clean glass vases. I’m very much a minimalist and didn’t want an exorbitant amount of detail in the room – the venue certainly speaks for itself. We went with ivory linen tablecloths, sequined champagne runners and deep, forest green cloth napkins.
Once my mom helped me into my dress, everything moved so fast – like I was racing through a dream. But everything slowed down as my husband and I were leaving the reception. I had held it together so well all day and when I was finally sitting next to him in the car, as we saw our favorite people in the world cheering for us as we were driving away, I felt completely overwhelmed with love and gratitude.
