Jodi and Sean got married on a hot June day in Birmingham, Alabama at Sloss Furance. They both got ready with their parties at the beautiful historic Tutwiler. Then we met at Sloss to do the first look with the industrial background that made it both fun and unusual. From there we were able to explore the furnace and take edgy portraits of the couple and the bridal party. There was one detail I have to share because I thought it was so cool. Jodi was the last of her bridal party to get married and instead of telling them they all had to buy matching shoes she told them to wear the shoes they themselves wore when they walked down the aisle!
Jodi and Sean had a pre-ceremony were they invited only the pastor, best man and maid of honor as they read personal vows. It was a first for me to photograph but such a delight! It was filled with happy tears and laughter.
After the private ceremony, the wedding took place under the huge water tower with family and friends gathered round. I can't stress enough how wonderfully interesting everything looked with the rusted steel all around. It is a wedding I will never forget shooting. The reception went on for hours as the band played and everyone danced the night away.
